Mahonia for winter colour ‘Soft Caress’ and ‘Wintersun’ – contrasting beautiful plants

Soft Caress:  The more unusual ‘Soft Caress’ was winner of the ‘Plant of the Year’ at RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2013 and, as its name suggests, it has spine free foliage so not prickly!  It is a dwarf, compact evergreen shrub with finely cut slender foliage. Lightly fragrant & very long-lasting flowers, followed by large clusters of silver-sheened blue berries, also quite long-lasting.  H&S 120 cms (47″).   A great addition to borders and containers for plenty of year-round interest.

Mahonia ‘Wintersun’  A medium, evergreen shrub with dense clusters of bright yellow flowers from late autumn to midwinter. Full sun to light shade. Open, peaty soil. H&S 1.5x1m (5×3′)
