Summer is here with our July Banner

Flowers looking lovely this Bank Holiday weekend at Downside

Here are a few plants at the Nursery which look particularly lovely this weekend all taken by Christina on 24th except for the LabLab which was taken on 9th.

  
Floribunda Rose   ‘For your eyes only’An award-winning floribunda compact shrub rose which flowers throughout the summer and grows to approx 80cm tall and wide.  The blooms are single, rich pink persica, with a red blotch at the base of each petal contrasting with the golden stamens.  It has a slight scent.  For details of all the roses at Downside at the beginning of the season, please click here https://downsidenurseries.co.uk/2020/extensive-plants-list/roses/
Osteospermum ‘Serenity Red’As well as the white and pink, here’s the more unusual ‘Serenity Red’  with its striking rich dark-red flowers and darker-red veins

Tree ferns. Dicksonia Antartica 
Spirea nipponica ‘Snowmound’Snowmound’ is a fast-growing, spreading medium-sized deciduous shrub with arching branches with clusters of small white flowers in mid-summer. HXW 1.5-2.5m
Verbascum ‘Dark Eyes’ 
Euphorbia Amy Purpurea, Allium Eros, Sedum ‘Lajos’ Autumn Charm
Eryngium x zabelii  Jos Eijkingsea holly Jos Eijking has intensely blue stems and flowers with a steely sheen through summer to mid-autumn.  H 60-90cm and is attractive to bees
Halimiocistus wintonensis Merrist Wood CreamThis lovely rock rose is a spreading bushy dwarf evergreen shrub with greyish leaves and 2cm wide pale creamy-yellow flowers zoned with maroon and yellow towards the centre
