13 of our 14 varieties of tomato are ready for you, but again they’ll need to be protected from cold/frost for another few weeks yet. There’s nothing more delicious than home-grown tomatoes in your salad. Even if you don’t have space for vegetables generally, you can use some large containers to grow tomatoes onto canes. The tumbling varieties do well in hanging baskets.
You can grow lettuce in containers as well. If you choose the ‘cut and come again’ types, eg Salad Bowl, Can Can & Lollo Rossa and harvest from the outside, two crops should last you all season.
