This year we have managed to get a small quantity of the rare Itoh Peonies, bred by Toichi Itoh in Japan. The successful crossing of tree and herbaceous peonies by plant breeders produced intersectional (Itoh) hybrids. These are hybrids between garden peonies and tree peonies. They resemble tree peonies in flower and leaf but die back in winter. Very collectable. (Image courtesy of RHS)
