AlbiziaTrees
AlbiziaTrees are small shrubby deciduous trees growing to 5–12 m tall, with a broad crown of level or arching branches and delicate feathered leaves. Lorraine saw a splendid specimen of one in the summer when on a visit with the University of Bath’s Gardening Club to Grange-over-Sands. She is particularly delighted therefore to report that we now have two varieties in stock here at Downside (mid Oct 2014).
Albizia jul/julibrissin ‘Ombrella’
The stunning dense-headed, deep-pink flowers appear from July to September. A quite spectacular and beautiful small tree, sometimes described as the “Powder Puff Tree” or ‘Persian Silk Tree’.
Albizia julibrissin Tropical Dream is one of the longest flowering, small hardy trees for cooler climates. It has large numbers of fluffy pink flowers standing on stalks from July until September, during which new flower open daily.
