Daphne odora Rebecca
Daphnes are hard to come by nowadays and not always the best quality. We have some really good Daphne odora Rebecca in – a new variety with a good leaf variation and nice strong plants. Limited number. Shop early.
Although discovered in Devon in the 1980s, these plants have only recently become available.
In January this fully hardy perennial evergreen shrub gives clusters of small purple-red buds which open to reveal highly scented lavender-pink flowers through to March. The flowers, together with the creamy-yellow edge to the emerald-green leaves really will brighten up your garden all winter, spring and through to the end of summer.
It prefers well-drained soil in sun or part shade and will grow to a height and spread of 1.2m (4’). It will be happy in full sun so long as it doesn’t dry out, and it is attractive to bees.
